Tuesday in KY

My great aunt and I went to Bardstown, KY yesterday.  And while she was doing some things, I had some free time.  And well, with all the traveling I do, I figured I need a new car.  So I went to the used car lot to look around.

While I was there, I met the car salesman, and found out that he is a fallen away Catholic.  So he started talking about the different cars, and I started talking about the Catholic Church.

I wasn't really interested in any of the cars he showed me, but he asked me if I wanted to test drive one (bad mistake on his part).  I said that I would be very interested, and so we went for a drive.

While we were in the car, he tried to explain how nice the car was, and I tried to explain how nice the Catholic Church is.  He finally asked why I love the Church so much and I told him because I am a convert!

After some time went by, he told me that he is engaged and is living with his fiancee.  I congratulated him on his engagement and recommended him to a couple of very good priests I know of in this diocese.  I knew that they would bring him back!

After the long drive, I ended up thanking him and told him that I was going to look at some other cars before I buy one.  He was happy and thanked me for the talk.

Ignite Your Torch Auction

After my long car ride on Monday (of 10 hours), I finally arrived in Louisville, KY.

I was just in time for the Ignite Your Torch Auction Fundraiser that they have every year.  It was a lot of fun to see old friends and meet new ones.

The Auction was a BIG success and raised a couple thousand dollars for the conference!  However, there is still need for more funding to cover other costs.  (If you would like to help donate money for this cause please let me know).

This conference means so much to me!  After all, if it wasn't for the IYT Youth Conference, I would not be Catholic today, nor would I have been able to do or meet anything/anyone I know today.

Interesting week

Greetings from Liberty!!!

Well, as most of you already know it has been a very eventful week (with trying to help a girl decide life, and then the March for Life). So we will just jump right into this update.

There is no update on Trish since the last one given. Please continue to keep her in your prayers! We pray that she may choose life! Because of you and your connections, there are a ton of resources available for her. And now there are three families that are willing to take her baby in (if she so chooses). PLEASE KEEP PRAYING!!! As soon as I get more info, I will send it to you all!

We had a big turnout this week for our dinner (15) students! We actually had two students that are/interested in the Church come this week, along with a few other new faces! We certainly are growing and the Spirit is moving!

Before our dinner on Wed. a group of us went to Holy Cross to adoration. It has been awhile since I have been to adoration, so I really enjoyed it!

On Thursday, we had a few students go to the March for Life! It was great to see so many young people there and on the side of LIFE!!! It is a shame that the media did such a horrible job at delivering this news.

On Friday another group of students and I went to Theology on Tap in Danville. It was really interesting and we got a lot out of Joe's talk (thank you Joe). We learned about the Lay person's vocation and their job in the church (it is probably the most important).

Other than that, I just did some homework and tried to catch up on some sleep.

PRAYER REQUESTS:

Trish and her unborn child.

Catholics at Liberty group.

Students struggling with faith.

My school work and studies (I just got a new academic advisor. Hopefully he doesn't tell me I have to do something else to do in order to graduate).

And finally, as always, there are pictures updated. Most are from the March for Life (where I ran into the Louisville crowd)! And the last one is of the Lynchburg College Catholic Campus Ministry tonight after their mass.

In Christ,
Chris Osgood

New Hope, KY

It feels good to go on a personal retreat and go back to the place where my conversion happened! Yup, that's right, New Hope, KY. I came down to KY for the Ignite Your Torch Youth Conference. http://www.igniteyourtorch.org/

But, with things going the way they were back home, I decided to come down a few days early to the place that I met God! I surprised my great aunt, everyone knew I was coming but her. She loved it!

I have been staying in the retreat center for the past 2 nights, but tonight they are giving me the boot. They are moving me to the rectory (since there is no priest at the community anymore). So tonight I will be in the rectory, and tomorrow Fr. Anthony will be here from Texas with his youth group for the conference. So the youth will stay in the retreat center, and I will be with Fr. Anthony in the rectory.

I am really excited about this, because I have been wanting to talk to Fr. Anthony for about 8 months, and now is my chance!

Well, I must go. But more to come later. For those of you who haven't heard of Ignite Your Torch, you better come next year!!!
