I don't understand but I love it!!!

So the weather is beautiful outside, just cold. But no ice, rain or snow, and yet we still have a delay.

I was on my way to class, and this student stops me and tells me to go back to the dorm that we have a delay. Now I know you shouldn't always trust people when they tell you things like this, but I was tired and I say "SWEET!!!" So I came back to the dorm, and WOW there really is a delay.

Why? Who knows, maybe the faculty is just as tired as I am. Or it could be that every other school/college in Lynchburg has canceled school 2 days in a row and we got 1 delay. I think they just keep giving us delays to make up for the missed school.

Either way, I know the students have been praying, and I think there was a compromise!

What do you think?

In class today we were asked if Christ was able to sin or not. So now I am asking you:

Was Christ able to commit sin? Yes or no, and why do you answer the way you do?

Interesting week

Greetings from Liberty!!!

Well, as most of you already know it has been a very eventful week (with trying to help a girl decide life, and then the March for Life). So we will just jump right into this update.

There is no update on Trish since the last one given. Please continue to keep her in your prayers! We pray that she may choose life! Because of you and your connections, there are a ton of resources available for her. And now there are three families that are willing to take her baby in (if she so chooses). PLEASE KEEP PRAYING!!! As soon as I get more info, I will send it to you all!

We had a big turnout this week for our dinner (15) students! We actually had two students that are/interested in the Church come this week, along with a few other new faces! We certainly are growing and the Spirit is moving!

Before our dinner on Wed. a group of us went to Holy Cross to adoration. It has been awhile since I have been to adoration, so I really enjoyed it!

On Thursday, we had a few students go to the March for Life! It was great to see so many young people there and on the side of LIFE!!! It is a shame that the media did such a horrible job at delivering this news.

On Friday another group of students and I went to Theology on Tap in Danville. It was really interesting and we got a lot out of Joe's talk (thank you Joe). We learned about the Lay person's vocation and their job in the church (it is probably the most important).

Other than that, I just did some homework and tried to catch up on some sleep.

PRAYER REQUESTS:

Trish and her unborn child.

Catholics at Liberty group.

Students struggling with faith.

My school work and studies (I just got a new academic advisor. Hopefully he doesn't tell me I have to do something else to do in order to graduate).

And finally, as always, there are pictures updated. Most are from the March for Life (where I ran into the Louisville crowd)! And the last one is of the Lynchburg College Catholic Campus Ministry tonight after their mass.

Update on prayer request!!!

Thank you all for the prayers!

Please keep praying for this girl who is wanting the abortion.

There really isn't much update from Cody, but we are still praying! I do want to thank you all for your prayers and support!

We have found out that she is still with her boyfriend and that her parent's don't know yet.

There are a number of you that through your connections have helped out tremendously! There are 2 families that are looking to adopt and are interested in this child!!!

We also have a number of people who have offered for her to stay with them and help her until the child is born!

A few counselors from Crisis Pregnancy Centers from all over the country are ready to talk with Cody and her about this.

And a number of people that have gone through abortion are ready to share their story with her.

Please keep praying! God is working here!!!

In Christ,
Chris Osgood

URGENT PRAYER (17 year old wants an abortion)

My friend Cody from back home just sent me a message saying that his friend is wanting to have an abortion. He is trying to help her through it, but the only alternative he knows to offer her is adoption.

Trish is two weeks away from turning 18 and she is two months pregnant. If you could send me any resources to send Cody, so that he can share them with her and help her through this. It would be greatly appreciated!!!

Please pray for Trish!!!

SNOW!!!

Well, there is good news and bad news for Lynchburg. There is snow on the ground! That means: Liberty still has classes because the roads are clear. But, more importantly it means, DON'T DRIVE!!! People down here are nuts!!!

The good news: SNOW!!!!!!!

Rough week

May the peace of the Lord be with you all!

I am soon realizing how great our God really is! It seems that every time we know that we are on the right path, we are either being tested or tempted. Now that I am almost done with the application process for the Arch-diocese of Cincinnati, and I am so close of graduating from Liberty, the opposition starts coming.

Honestly, I am glad that the opposition is coming. After my first two years of being here where filled with persecution, I finally had last semester free from that. However, this semester, I am not dealing with persecution, no instead I am facing some opposition. I am almost done here, and the battle is just beginning. I see this as my toughest semester yet at LU, but when it is all said and done, it will be the most rewarding!

I am in over my head in my classes (just so I can graduate), and I am still looking for a job (I think I found a job here on campus, which I am really hoping I get)! The work load is going to be tough, and it seems almost impossible that I will be able to get through this semester, it's times like these, that I know there is a God, and that I am on the right path!

We have heard from a number of students that are wanting to join us, so hopefully we can get them involved (due to bad communication, they have shown up to some events but could not find us). This past week, we had our dinner and also watched the movie Bella.

PRAYER REQUESTS:
For a number of students that are starting to struggle in their faith.

For a student that is going through a tough time and has had a rough past.

For myself, as I try to finish up this semester (and for my computer that is on its last leg. Thank you to the people that are trying to help me get a new one).
May God continue to bless you all, and be with you always.

PS: Hope to see you at the March for Life!!!

In Christ,
Chris Osgood

"I didn't have a voice" I had to kiss my child goodbye

I found this post on facebook from one of my friends. What a sad story. This my friends is why we are Marching for LIFE this Thursday!
--------------------------------------------------------
In October of 2006 I found out I was going to be a Father. My girlfriend of 6 months was pregnant with our child. Neither of us planned this pregnancy, or had even talked about the possibility of getting pregnant. That was about to become my biggest regret. Like I said I wasn’t ready to have a child. She said she couldn't go forth in having a child and needed to abort. She went to the nursing staff at Boston College a week or two after she found out she was pregnant.
The nurse at BC told her that she would be better off having an abortion, and told her where she could get one. Boston College won’t even give out condoms, but told her it would be ok to get an abortion, and where to get one. I didn’t make a big deal of it at the time because I wanted her to stay calm and positive.

I brought her to a crisis pregnancy center in Boston when she was 5 weeks pregnant, so that she could explore her options other than having an abortion. The women at the center set up a date for her to get an ultrasound so she could see her child. We went to get her first ultrasound when she was 5 weeks pregnant. We weren’t able to see much at this point, but we did see the heartbeat of our child. The sono tech. said it was too early in the pregnancy to see our baby, and to come back in 2 1/2- 3 weeks. We came back 3 weeks later for another ultrasound, and that’s when we saw our baby. Our child was at 8 weeks gestation and had fingers, toes, eyes, everything. I saw and heard my child's heart beat and I cried. It was a very overwhelming and beautiful experience for me, until she looked over at me and said: “What are you crying about? Worms have heartbeats too”. Her sister had offered to pay $500 for her to get an abortion. She insisted she was going to get the abortion, was planning to get one that weekend, and broke up with me right before.

I called the abortion clinic and asked what my rights were; they said “You don't have any”. I then asked them, "What do you do with the aborted babies? I want to bury my child". They told me that it wasn't a child, it was a fetus, and to never call again or they would involve the police. My hands were tied. I, as a father had no legal right to protect my child from a death committed by a "doctor". I called everyone imaginable to see what my rights were and I got the same answer: “nothing”.

The week before my child was aborted; I went to try one more time to ask the mother of my child to not do this. But she was adamant about having an abortion, and told me to leave. So I then asked her if I could do one thing before I left, she told me that was fine. I then got on my knees and kissed the stomach of the mother of my child and said “I love you, and Daddy will see you in heaven”. I then took the ultrasound pictures and left.

The day my child was aborted was a very painful day for me. I was informed that my child had been aborted in the afternoon on December 2nd, 2006. It was the most painful experience I have ever been through. My relationship ended with the woman that I thought I was going to marry, and I lost my first child. I didn’t want to go on; I was in too much pain. I didn’t eat. I didn’t sleep. I had nightmares of my child being aborted. The day after my child was aborted, I went to see my pastor and he suggested that I have a memorial for my unborn child. I took his advice, and had one the following Sunday at his church. I had my parents and a few friends come. It was a short ceremony, but very painful. I never thought that my child would meet God before I did.

After that day things were still very painful. I still couldn’t sleep or eat, and thoughts of suicide filled my head every waking hour. I joined Bible studies, and post abortion Bible studies as much as possible. Those were the only people that would understand. There were times that I wouldn’t even receive support at church. A man is really not allowed to grieve the loss of his unborn baby. I was told things like: “Your child wasn’t even born, so get over it”, “It wasn’t a baby yet”, or even people saying “Your child deserved to die”. None of those things helped me heal and just put me in more of a state of depression.

That winter I was invited to a Right to Life march in Concord, NH. I thought it might be healing, so I went. While I was there, I met a man that ran crisis pregnancy centers in NYC. After speaking to him for awhile, he invited me down to NYC for the summer. I decided to go down and give it a shot.

On July 12th 2007 the day my child was supposed to be born, I went to NYC to serve God and help men and women in situations like I was in. While I was there, I counseled around 500 men and women, and through God, saved at least 100 lives from abortion. I continue to do this work in Manchester, NH in a center that I opened this past summer. Even though I never got to meet my child, I miss my baby ever single day. I know my child is now in the arms of Jesus and I will meet him and hold him in heaven.

Life of Christ

I am taking the class "Life of Christ" this semester at Liberty and WOW (not in a good way). I have never heard so much heresy before in just 2 hours! I am so close of graduating this May, and hopefully entering the seminary this fall. But the thing is, do I keep my mouth shut and risk not graduating in May (because I have to pass this class) or do I correct the professor on some heresy?

I usually have spoken up when a professor has criticized the Catholic Church and now I have a reputation in the Religion Department here at Liberty. Most of the professors know about me and don't put down the Catholic Church while I am in the class. But what has been said in the class of "Life of Christ" is much worse than putting down the Catholic Faith.

The professor asked the class if we believed Christ was fully Divine. Everyone raised their hand and agreed. Then he asked if we believed that Christ was fully human. Once again everyone raised their hands and agreed.

Then the professor started talking about original sin and how it is passed down through the generations. And since Mary is a normal human, she must have sinned (this isn't the heresy part). Therefore, if Jesus was born from Mary, He too would have sinned. Then He wouldn't have been perfect.

Therefore, God created the sperm and the egg inside Mary and that is where Jesus came from. The egg was not Mary's. Instead, Mary was the surrogate mother of Christ.

WOW!!! The sad thing is, the students actually said, "That makes a lot of since."

HERESY!!! If that is the true case, then Jesus Christ was NOT fully human!

Oh how I can't wait to enter the seminary!

1st week back at Liberty!!!

Greetings from Liberty!!!

I have been back for a week now and it's been rough. I took a one week philosophy class (something I had to do so I can graduate on time). And during the class this week, I found out that Chief Dalton and Mr. Lane past away. Chief Dalton was one of my high school friend's dad. And Mr. Lane was a neighbor of mine since I can remember. For more go to https://webmail.liberty.edu/owa/redir.aspx?C=66c5e3e99f764731a21715efa40d6aac&URL=http%3a%2f%2fchristopherosgood.blogspot.com%2f2009%2f01%2frip-cheif-dalton.html

Other than that, I have been busy trying to find more Catholics at Liberty, and we found about 3 or 4 students that are really excited and anxious to get involved! On top of that, I have found many more Alumni and Faculty that are Catholic and want to help us get this group approved!!!

This past weekend there were 2 students and I that went up to stay at Maria's house. On Saturday we all made the drive to DC to watch Br. James Brent OP, be Ordained as a Deacon! It was great to see him along with Br. Ignatius (who both had a part in my conversion and vocation)! Pictures are attached (fist 3 are from break, 4th is of Deacon James Brent OP and me, and the fifth is of Br. Ignatius OP and me).

It was also great talking with Maria's dad about Creation and Evolution (his apostolate is to help Catholics understand the official teaching of the Church about the matter) https://webmail.liberty.edu/owa/redir.aspx?C=66c5e3e99f764731a21715efa40d6aac&URL=http%3a%2f%2fwww.kolbecenter.org%2f

More prayer requests:

The souls of Chief Dalton and Mr. Lane

A family that has recently entered the Church and is struggling with alcoholism.

Fr Tim Lozier, pastor of Most Holy Redeemer Parish, Jacksonville. He will begin treatment for prostate cancer shortly.

God bless,
Chris Osgood

R.I.P. Chief Dalton

Yesterday, while I was in my philosophy class, I got a text message letting me know that Mr. Dalton past away earlier on this week. It was really hard for me to pay attention the rest of class, because I thought of all the great memories I had with him.
The picture on the left is of his son Greg (his son and a good friend of mine that graduated with me from high school) and Mr. Larry Dalton (better known as Chief). Mr. Dalton was a retired fire chief and very active in the community. He could and would make anyone smile at any point in the day.
I will never forget when I played baseball with Greg, and Mr. Dalton would always drive us to the games and help us out with our hitting, catching and throwing. And whenever I would strike out, I would just look at him and he would make me smile somehow.
The viewing was yesterday and the funeral was this morning. I was very upset that I could not make it to either (due to my classes in VA). My mother and youngest sister went to the viewing last night and said that there were a lot of people there (which did not surprise me) and today at the funeral my former Baptist Pastor (who was also a fire chief) did a fireman's funeral.
Mr. Dalton had a very important part in life and a big part of my baseball memories and will be greatly missed!
Please pray for the soul of Larry "Chief" Dalton and for his family (wife and 2 sons).

Prayer Requests!!!

I have some prayer requests that I have promised to send out, but haven't had the chance:

1. There is a Baptist Pastor in VA (I cannot give his name or location due to privacy) who was a convert to the Catholic faith (some time ago), then left the church and is now a Baptist Pastor who wishes to come back home to the Catholic Church!!!

2. There is a Liberty Alumni in IL who is a Youth Minister and is really struggling with his faith and considering leaving his church to become Catholic (he just started on this journey)!!!

3. There is a Liberty student that I am speaking with that said he has converted to the Catholic Church and is just waiting on being confirmed!!!

4. The Ignite Your Torch Youth Conference! All of you already know about it, but pray for finances and for youth to sign up. Also, please pray for the old chapel on site so that we can use it for mass (instead of an ugly purple gym)!!!

5. The Catholics at Liberty. This is going to be one of the greatest semesters we have seen yet, but it will only happen with prayer!!!

Hope all is going well with everyone! And great things are going to happen this semester!!!

Update from Christmas break

Hey everyone!!!

I hope you all had a very nice Christmas and New Year! There has been a lot that has happened over my Christmas break.

As soon as I got back from home, we celebrated my sister Dondi's 21st birthday. Then that Sunday we celebrated her daughter's (Kelly) 1 year birthday. It was good to see a lot of the family and then the 2 foreign exchange students that my uncle has.

Other than hanging out with the family, I was able to sit in on some classes at the seminary! I really enjoyed the classes, and I am can't wait to take classes there!!! On the 19th of December my friends and I went to Dave and Busters (adult Chucky Cheese) for my cousin's 23 birthday.

On Dec. 22 there was a group of guys that all got together and went to the northern part of the Arch-diocese of Cincinnati for dinner. All of the guys are thinking about a possible vocation, then we had a transitional deacon, a seminarian and 2 priests. To read more about it and see pictures you can go to: https://webmail.liberty.edu/owa/redir.aspx?C=9b1f97500aa94e7fafcf5901049d1af5&URL=http%3a%2f%2ffrmartinfox.blogspot.com%2f2008%2f12%2fmy-day-off.html

Besides all of that, I got a little sick and still am getting over it. I spent a lot of time with family and the 2 foreign exchange students, worked a little at St. Henry. Then for New Years, I went to New Hope, KY to spend a few days with family and friends. Then I went to VA Beach over the last weekend to spend the weekend with my grandparents and aunt and uncle.

There will be pictures of break in the next post.

God bless,
Chris Osgood
